Questions for “The Parable of the Sower“ : Transitional study for 2/9/2010
1) Why would a farmer drop seed on all kinds of ground, knowing some would never be fruitful?

2) Why are we, as sowers of the seed of the Gospel, called to share it with all people and not just those we think would respond positively? (Mark 16:15)

3) What does the hard ground of the wayside or highways represent?

4) What causes the soil to be so hard? What causes people‘s hearts to become hardened?

5) The rocky soil represents quick but shallow responders. Why would these seeds fail to grow deep roots? What does it take to grow spiritual roots?

6) What do the thorns represent in the lives of hearers of the word today?

7) What are the characteristics of good soil?

8) Can bad soil ever be productive? If so, what would need to take place?

9) Are all plants in good soil equally productive? Why or why not?

10) What is the farmer‘s long term goal in planting seed? How would you explain that in spiritual terms?
